The Department of Anthropology is currently fostering collaboration with the Department of Sociology and Anthropology – Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU). The primary objective of this collaboration is to enhance instructional quality and establish future research partnerships between our institutions.

To jump-start this collaboration, we are organizing a two-day Basic Archaeology Training for AdDU anthropology students and faculty members. The ADMU team, consisting of five professors and researchers, will serve as trainers during this workshop scheduled for April 5-6, 2024. On April 5, the team plans an on-campus face-to-face workshop to impart various archaeological concepts and methodologies useful in analyzing early human settlements. This will be the first exposure of the students to this field which is an integral part of the anthropological discipline. To realize the full potential of this training, we are facilitating a one-day field study in Talikud, Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS), Davao del Norte, on April 6, 2024, as some caves are present in the island, including those identified in an earlier archaeological study reported by Solheim et al. in 1979. This field study offers participants the chance to apply concepts and methodologies in a real-world setting.
